I’m currently a Research Associate at the University of Tasmania, working with Prof. Elisa Mantelli and Prof. Poul Christofferson. My ultimate research aim is to improve our understanding and prediction of the flow of ice-sheets and glaciers, and bring advanced mathematical and numerical techniques into glaciology. My work so far has focused on understanding the development of ice fabrics (the alignment of crystallites in a region) and how this affects the flow of ice. Understanding the mechanisms controlling the flow of ice is key for accurately predicting sea-level rise in the future: mass loss from ice-sheets is the main source of uncertainty in sea-level rise predictions and my research aims to reduce this present uncertainty.
